Debt Survey

The Debt Survey was sponsored by Intrum Justitia.

This study examines trends and developments in debt management, debt collection and recovery and looks at the processes and practices of large volume lenders in the consumer credit industry and those organisations involved in extending commercial credit.

One focus of the study is on the size and nature of the 'out-placed' debt collection industry i.e. third party collection and debt recovery agents. The aims of the study were:(i) To examine current practices in collections and recovery amongst large volume lenders and to look at the forces driving change in the credit and collections departments. (ii) To examine the market for commercial debt collection by reviewing trends in commercial lending, business to business trade finance (credit) and the credit management practices of UK companies. (iii) To generate information, via a postal survey and interview program, on the size and structure of the out-placed debt collection industry and to survey the characteristics and practices of debt collection agents.
